Sound-Sync

I have been working on sound-syncing clips from areas in the USA today. During filming, two cameras from different angles were used; one for better picture quality and one for the purpose of recording better sound.

My job today has involved me using Avid Media Composer to line up both clips so that the clip with the better picture is joined up perfectly with the audio track from the camera with the better audio. To achieve this, I used the waveform setting on both clips to line up their audio tracks and then when completed, disabled the audio and visual track that was no longer needed.

When problems were encountered, for example if some of the clips were missing, I kept a very detailed chart of issues to enable the director to review this at his own leisure, rather than informing him straight away and disrupting him when he was busy. I found this system has worked very well and have been complimented for my simple yet effective use of initiative.
